Birla Institute of Technology & Science, (Hindi: बिरला प्रौद्योगिकी एवं विज्ञान संस्थान पिलानी) (known as BITS Pilani) is a science and technology school located in Pilani, Rajasthan, India. In addition to Pilani, BITS has campuses in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Goa, India and Hyderabad, India and an extension center in Bangalore, India. Common Entrance Test ( CET – Maharashtra ) is conducted by the directorate of Technical Education for all health sciences, Engineering and Pharmacy degree courses. The Government of Maharashtra is appointed a Competent Authority for the MHT-CET for each streams .

The classes for current academic session are currently being held at IIT Kharagpur, which has been designated as the mentor IIT for looking after the incubation activities of the new IIT in Bhubaneswar. The academic session in IIT Bhubaneswar commenced from August 2008. Prof. Madhusudan Chakrabarti is the present director of IIT Bhubaneswar since 2009, succeeding acting director, Prof. Damodar Acharya.
